H12 National Championship: August 11 - 13, 2006
Twenty five of the most beautiful one-design class came to race at the head of Buzzards Bay for the annual H12 National Championship, hosted this year by the Beverly Yacht Club of Marion, MA. The H12 was designed and built in Bristol, RI in the early 20th century by Nathaniel Herreshoff, and originally called the Buzzards Bay Boys Boat. Beautiful and extremely seaworthy, the H12 remains the largest one-design class at Beverly (as it still is at many clubs around the bay), with 43 boats listed in the 2005 yearbook. It is a vital part of the club’s racing schedule, with highly competitive ladies races on Thursdays and a Sunday series for men and women.
